One might not think that I sew, being a guy and all, but in my world, a sewing machine counts as a power tool. Like all power tools, sometimes you make a mistake with them and that is why I needed a good seam ripper like the Singer Flip & Rip.
I originally got this seam ripper because I had to rework some window covers to go in Leif The Adventure Van. That meant taking a lot of edging off. I knew I didn’t want to do it with the little one that everyone has in their sewing kit, so I started doing some research.
My Review of the Singer Flip ‘n Rip
The first thing I love about this seam ripper is that it is big. I’ve tried the little seam rippers before and they are fine if you are backing up 2-3 stitches, but for a whole seam, they suck. This tool fits comfortably in my hand.
The next thing I love is that it is sharp, may be too sharp. I did cut the fabric a couple of times when I got too aggressive on the seams, but it was getting cut off anyway so that didn’t matter.
Lastly, I love that the ripper folds safely away. I’m not a fan of losing caps for things, or of reaching into a box and poking myself. Having the pointy bits of this seam ripper tucked nicely away in the handle is a big plus for me.
