Cheez-Its are a classic snack cracker in my book and I grab them whenever they go on sale. But lately, they have been on a run of kicking out strange flavors. In this case it is the Grooves Bold Cheddar.

Obviously I had to give them a try when I saw them in the store.

The Cheez-It website gives the following description for this flavor:

Cheez-It® Grooves® Bold brings you deep flavor and deep crunch. We took the 100% real cheese taste of Cheez-It® Original crackers and baked it into gloriously crunchy Cheez-It® Grooves® Bold. Now you can snack on cheesy satisfaction with a huge crunch!

Now I will give them that their Grooves series of crackers have crunch, but bold… I might have to disagree with them on that one. Maybe they started out that way, but someone changed the formula by the time I got to them, as I thought they were a little on the bland side.

Overall, people seem to like this flavor. Currently it has a rating of over 4 out of 5 on Amazon.

Maybe people like them that way or the box I got was just a little under-seasoned. Things do happen.

Cheez-It Bold Cheddar Cracker Ingredients

I’ve learned to read labels these days as a lot of products have started using some pretty sketchy ingredients. Here are the stated ingredients for Cheez-It Grooves Bold Cheddar crackers:

Enriched flour (wheat flour, niacin, reduced iron, vitamin B1 [thiamin mononitrate], vitamin B2 [riboflavin], folic acid), rice flour, soybean oil (with TBHQ for freshness), white cheddar cheese (milk, cheese cultures, salt, enzymes). Contains 2% or less of sugar, salt, soy lecithin, buttermilk, monosodium glutamate, leavening (baking soda, sodium acid pyrophosphate, monocalcium phosphate), onion powder, spices, cheddar cheese (milk, cheese cultures, salt, enzymes), lactic acid, corn syrup solids, citric acid, whey, natural flavors, paprika extract color, turmeric extract color, annatto extract color.

Overall, not horrible aside from the soy and the MSG, but obviously this is no health food.
