Today when I was walking through Coastal Supply of all places, I saw a display for Pearson’s Skippy Peanut Butter Salted Nut Roll candy bars and I had to pause for a moment. I’ve been eating their normal nut rolls for effectively forever, but this was new, so obviously I had to try it.

The Skippy Peanut Butter Salted Nut Roll was apparently launched late in 2023 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the launch of their classic nut roll. This collaboration was made possible with Homel foods, the current owner of the Skippy Peanut Butter brand.

In their press release, Randy Klemann, general manager at Pearson Candy Company. “We are excited to introduce the Skippy Peanut Butter Salted Nut Roll to our beloved candy enthusiasts. By combining the timeless appeal of our Salted Nut Roll with the delicious taste of Skippy Peanut Butter, we have created a candy bar that is truly irresistible. We believe that this new creation will become an instant favorite among peanut butter lovers and candy connoisseurs.”

This candy bar replaces the standard vanilla nougat with a peanut butter confectionery that I’m a bit at a loss to describe. A soft peanut butter taffy is almost the right description but not quite. It is soft, stretchy, but not as insufferably chewy as taffy.

Review of Pearson’s Skippy Peanut Butter Salted Nut Roll

On the whole, it is a pretty decent candy bar. The peanuts were excellent on the one I tried but they did pretty much immediately fall off, making it hard to eat without having to chase peanuts everywhere.

Al tried this one with me and she actually gave it a higher rating than I did. For me, I’d say it was OK, but I’ll stick with the classic nut roll from Pearson’s.

Where You Can Buy Pearson’s Skippy Peanut Butter Salted Nut Roll

I found my Skippy Nut Roll at a Coastal Supply store, which seemed pretty random to me. Check you local retailers and you may find them, but who knows how long they will be around for.

If you are really wanting to give them a try right now, Pearson’s has a lot of their products on Amazon. They have both boxes of full size bars as well as bags of bite size bars.
